Welcoming Maryam Mohit to the Neighborhood

Written by ndmulti

Nextdoor is growing rapidly and is now being used by more than 49,000 neighborhoods across the country.

We’re constantly thinking of how to refine and improve Nextdoor to give our members an incredible experience. Hiring people that believe deeply in our mission and have exceptional backgrounds is just one of the ways we are investing in Nextdoor’s future.

Today, we’re excited to announce that Maryam Mohit has joined Nextdoor as a Director of Product.

Her entire career has been focused on creating efficient, effective, and delightful online products.
Maryam is a passionate community builder, engaged neighbor, and long-time Nextdoor member. Her entire career has been focused on creating efficient, effective, and delightful online products. She was one of the earliest employees at Amazon and rose to Vice President of Site Development. She ultimately led a department of over 200 web developers, front-end engineers, program and product managers, designers, editors, and researchers. Maryam and her team were responsible for the features and functionality of the Amazon site, as well as the overall online customer experience.

After deciding to leave Amazon to spend time with her children, Maryam became deeply involved in her own local community. She spearheaded the renovation of the neighborhood playground and founded several volunteer groups, including the One Sky Giving Circle. Maryam then began her own entrepreneurial pursuits, co-founding GemShare, a company that was dedicated to creating a “communal Rolodex” of trusted, personal recommendations.

More than 26% of all of the conversations on Nextdoor are about recommendations, so we’re excited to not only have Maryam join the team because of her robust experience in tech, but also because of her specific expertise with online recommendations.

Please join me in giving Maryam a warm welcome to the Nextdoor neighborhood.
