Nextdoor Partners with the City of Steel to Build Stronger and Safer Neighborhoods across Pittsburgh

Written by Jen Burke

Today, we’re excited to announce that we have partnered with the City of Pittsburgh. This partnership, led by Mayor Peduto, will enable to Mayor’s Office, the Department of Public Safety, and the Department of Public Works to use Nextdoor to build stronger, safer communities with the help of Pittsburgh residents.

“Joining Nextdoor is another way to further our efforts in making Pittsburgh an even greater place to live,” said Mayor Peduto. “Giving residents more avenues to easily and effectively connect with city departments, and each other, about the things that matter most to their communities will create a safer, stronger Pittsburgh.”

Nextdoor has already proven to be an essential and well-adopted tool for Pittsburgh residents. More than 67 neighborhoods, representing 80% of the City of Pittsburgh, have started Nextdoor websites.

“Having the ability to easily communicate with residents is extremely vital to not only maintaining, but increasing, safety and reducing crime within our Pittsburgh communities,” said Commander RaShall Brackney. “With Nextdoor we can help empower neighbors to keep their communities safe and connected and give them the ability to collaborate on virtual neighborhood watch efforts.”

You can join or start your Nextdoor website here.
