Over the past six months, the Milwaukee Police Department has been piloting Nextdoor in District 7 and has seen great success in connecting with residents about safety concerns. Starting today, Nextdoor will be rolled out to all seven police districts and used to engage and communicate with residents on a neighborhood level.
More than twenty police officers were trained today at the MPD Training Center where they learned how to use Nextdoor to effectively communicate and collaborate with residents.
Nextdoor has been well-adopted by Milwaukee neighbors as the lifeline to their community in more than 135 neighborhoods. One of those neighborhoods is Nextdoor Lindsay Park. Eric Diaz, member of Nextdoor Lindsay Park, was at today’s training to speak with reporters about his personal experience on Nextdoor.
Nextdoor came in handy for Eric last October when he caught two burglars stealing the radio out of his car. He is thankful that the Milwaukee Police Department will now be on Nextdoor so he can share this type of information with them with a click of the mouse.
Congratulations to the Milwaukee Police Department – we are honored to work with you and Milwaukee residents to build stronger, safer neighborhoods.
