Jeremie joined Nextdoor a year ago and immediately brought energy, joy, and leadership to Nextdoor’s Agency team. He was a tireless supporter of the Nextdoor mission and was usually the first person in the office, never failing to offer most of us our first “good morning” of the day. He was known as a colleague who always had a smile on his face, a spring in his step, and a coffee mug in hand.
Jeremie brought unique experience to Nextdoor – he spent four years working in emergency services as a firefighter, EMT, and 911 dispatcher. He was passionate about helping our partners connect with their residents and truly understood the needs of both.
Soon after joining Nextdoor, Jeremie brought structure and direction to his team, developing clear goals that played off the strengths of each team member. He often took on projects outside of his comfort zone, knowing that he was helping others at the company.
Under Jeremie’s leadership, we launched Nextdoor for Public Agencies, a platform enabling any public agency in the country to integrate their communications into Nextdoor. Jeremie wasn’t content to simply deliver any product to our agency partners – he was determined to make that product world-class. By listening intently to partners and coordinating cross-functional projects that brought multiple internal teams together, Jeremie made Nextdoor for Public Agencies the strong product it is today.
Jeremie often went above and beyond for our agency partners – he would call them when he was in town just to grab a quick bite and catch up. He was always more than happy to make a trip across the country to help agencies connect with their residents or to help launch a new initiative. Jeremie tirelessly supported these agencies and helped the company understand their importance. He brought in several of our partners to speak to the company about 21st-century community policing, hosted FEMA officials in our office, and spearheaded Nextdoor’s participation in America’s Prepareathon.
To Jeremie, no accomplishment at Nextdoor was too small to celebrate. He was fond of excitedly sounding a police siren throughout the office to celebrate his team’s successes. His contagious enthusiasm spread to all parts of the company, and for that we are forever grateful.
We will miss Jeremie’s broad smile, contagious laugh, and sharp wit. Whether literally or figuratively, Jeremie regularly gave everyone on his team a pat on the back; his care for his colleagues was apparent, and he made every day enjoyable. He was an eternal optimist and truly saw the positive in every situation.
The shock of his passing is hard to comprehend, and there are no words to describe the sadness we feel. As we continue our work at Nextdoor, we will all strive to follow Jeremie’s lead and joyfully embrace each day. We were lucky to not only call Jeremie our colleague at Nextdoor, but also our dear friend. Our thoughts are with Jeremie’s wife, family, and loved ones during this difficult time.
Nextdoor will not be the same without Jeremie. He is missed deeply already.

What a great tribute to someone who obviously was a special person inspiring those he interacted with on a daily basis. Sorry I didn’t meet him and work with him. Sarah Leary wrote a sensitive and introspective eulogy for Jeremie which portrayed him as I’m sure he was.
