Baton Rouge Resident Helps Neighbors in Need After Devastating House Fire

Written by ndmulti

With the click of a button, Caitlin, a local neighbor in the Shadow Springs neighborhood in Denham Springs, Louisiana, was able to help a local family in need after their home was destroyed by a devastating fire.

The family of four, who has lived in the neighborhood for 15 years, was left with only the clothes on their backs after the fire ravaged their entire home. Caitlin wanted to help the family, whom she considers her close friends. She turned to Nextdoor to get the word out that a family in the neighborhood was in need – and was blown away by the response.

“It was incredible,” says Caitlin. “Within just a few days, we had enough to immediately help the family get back on their feet.”

All together, neighbors raised more than $4,000 for the family, and are close to reaching their $5,000 goal.

Thanks to the community, the family now has a place to stay, clothes to wear, food to eat, and money to begin to rebuild their beloved family home.
