Celebrating Our Four-Legged Neighbors on National Dog Day

We hear from members every day that pets are a popular topic of discussion on Nextdoor, especially when it comes to saving an abandoned dog, finding forever homes for local lost pups, or supporting a local animal shelter.

For the second year in a row, in honor of National Dog Day, today, August 26, we’ve created a fun infographic with the most popular dog names across America!

It’s clear that Americans are fond of their furry friends’ names: compared to 2015, all of the Top 10 names for 2016 are repeats with just a couple changing rank: Buddy replaced Bailey for the #5 spot and Sadie took Maggie’s place at #9 this year!

As for top names by breed, a handful have remained the same, while others have changed:
