Nextdoor has become a central place for all things related to your home and neighborhood. Everyday, neighbors turn to Nextdoor to ask their fellow neighbors for trusted gardeners, plumbers, local market information, best nearby playgrounds– you name it, neighbors do know best.
Real estate continues to be one of the most popular topics on Nextdoor. With 1 in 4 conversations on Nextdoor related to real estate and the home, we launched the Real Estate section two years ago to enable neighbors to stay apprised of nearby neighborhood listings as well as to have access to local real estate experts with an “Ask an Expert” option. We surveyed Nextdoor members to get a better understanding of what they were most interested in learning about and what they’d like to see in the section. 60% of surveyed members visit the Real Estate section because they are curious about nearby homes for sale. We also learned that nearly half of the members are likely to sell their home, and close to a third visit the Real Estate section because they want to understand their home value.
You shared, and we listened. That’s why we’re excited to build on this popular feature, and announce Your Home, a one-stop portal that provides a personalized view of your home’s value, local real estate trends, and everything you need to know about your local community and how it’s affecting your home value. Interested in seeing what the house down the street sold for recently, or calculating what your home could go for if you put it on the market today? Your Home captures all of this in one place to make it easy for you to learn more about how the neighborhood’s real estate market impacts you. The information in Your Home is private and visible only to you.
As you explore Your Home, here are a few tips and tricks to get the most out of the new feature:
- Use the Home Sale Calculator feature to understand the value of your home: Your Home can help you make informed home investment decisions. The Home Sale Calculator feature estimates the profit you could make if you were to sell your home– just enter a few details like an offer price, mortgage payoff, and agent commission to get a calculation.
- Check out recently sold homes in your neighborhood to see how the market is trending: Understand the local housing market values and be in the know of market conditions to determine the most optimal time to buy or sell in your neighborhood.
- Have a question? Connect with a trusted local real estate agent: Real estate agents have always been the go-to resource for local neighborhoods, so we’ve made it easy for neighbors to connect directly with trusted agents who know the local market inside and out. Get help navigating the home selling process by connecting directly with an agent in your area to get a professional valuation of your home or better understand the local real estate market by clicking “Talk to an expert.”
We spoke with neighbor Jane S. from Charleston, South Carolina, who shared that her and her husband weren’t initially in the market to sell their home, but are now weighing their options after spending some time browsing the Your Home section: “We bought our home years ago and haven’t stayed up to date with what the current real estate market looks like today in our community. After seeing the listings of homes that recently sold on our block, we are now thinking that it may be a good time to put our home on the market.”

To access Your Home from the Nextdoor app, tap on the hamburger icon on the bottom-right side of the screen. From there, tap on the “Real Estate” section and then tap “Your Home” at the top of the screen.
