Whether or not you have voted in the past, it is important to continue to recognize and support these businesses year after year. Three-time Neighborhood Favorite winner Rackshack BBQ in Burnsville, MN shares their appreciation for the ongoing support, “It feels great to continue to be recognized as a favorite in our area.” Paul of the Silver Unicorn Bookstore is hoping for a third win in 2020, sharing, “It is extremely gratifying to be voted as an important part of our community.”

Businesses strengthen our local economies and bring charm to our neighborhoods, while also providing a space to gather with friends, family, and neighbors. To learn from the best, we asked neighbors around the country why they believe in supporting local businesses. Brenna from Oak Park, CA shares that, “they often give back to local organizations that support members of the community. Like a part of a family, they are an essential part of the community.” Chris from Glendale, WI shares that he loves to celebrate local businesses because they are often, “family run and usually have dreams of becoming a bigger part of our community.”

How to Vote

Thanks to your feedback, we have broadened the voting categories so even more of your favorite businesses have an opportunity to win in 2020. From delicious desserts to reliable home service providers, plenty of new businesses now have a chance to receive the recognition they deserve. The 2020 Neighborhood Favorites Voting Period is open February 3, 2020 through February 23, 2020 on web, iOS, and Android.

  1. Visit the Businesses section on Nextdoor and click ‘Get Started’.
  2. A survey will pop-up with the opportunity to vote for your favorite local business in 25 member suggested categories.
  3. You can select an option from the pre-populated list of businesses, or search for the business you’d like to vote for if it’s not included. If you still can’t find the business you’d like to vote for, you can manually add a business by clicking ‘Don’t see it? Add business or individual.’ After selecting your favorite business, you will see a bursting heart animation, which indicates that your vote has been cast.
  4. You will then have the opportunity to share why you love the business you voted for. This comment will appear on and help strengthen that business’s Nextdoor Business Page. Business owners who have claimed their free Business Page can see and respond to comments shared by neighbors.

Do you own a local business? Learn more about Neighborhood Favorites voting and spread the word to encourage neighbors to vote.

Happy voting and stay tuned for your neighborhood’s winning list later this year!
