When I first met Kiran Prasad, it quickly became clear that he is driven to build communities and understands how transformative the connections between neighbors can be.
“Growing up in Michigan after my family moved from India when I was eight, we were eager to connect and create a sense of belonging in the neighborhood,” Kiran said. “If my parents had had something like Nextdoor, I think we would have found our community much sooner.”
I’m thrilled to welcome Kiran as our head of product. He will lead Nextdoor’s efforts to elevate product vision, strategy, and execution.
A product innovator, designer, and builder, Kiran’s passion for building communities coupled with his collaborative leadership style make him a great fit for Nextdoor. He brings more than 20 years of product and engineering experience, managing global brands and international teams. He most recently served as vice president of product at LinkedIn, where he led strategy and product development for the LinkedIn Consumer experience and Premium business portfolio. Before that, he managed engineering for the Consumer experience at LinkedIn, rebuilding the mobile and desktop platform before moving into product management in 2017. Earlier in his career, he was part of the team at Palm, Inc., that delivered webOS, Palm’s first Windows phone and was the tech lead for the original Treo.
As the father of two teens, he and his wife are longtime users of Nextdoor. Whether it’s selling items or looking for a handyman, the Prasads have relied on Nextdoor to source a number of things including the newest addition to their family during the pandemic, Bella, their pet bunny. He cites his family as his biggest inspiration as they constantly motivate him to be inquisitive, remain curious and take risks.
