Love Your Neighborhood: Dallas neighbor sets a table for connection

Written by Team Nextdoor

In honor of Neighbor Month, learn how one woman brought her neighbors together and transformed a community

When Sarah wanted to get to know her neighbors, she extended a dinner invitation on Nextdoor with a simple message: “I would love to meet you.” The Dallas woman had no idea how many, if any, would take her up on the offer. That Tuesday night, 91 neighbors showed up for the backyard get-together — laughing, sharing stories, and nourishing new connections.

Sarah has gone on to host more than 3,500 neighbors at her table, where all are welcome. “Something is extraordinary when we reach out to each other as neighbors,” she said. Read more about Sarah’s story on USA Today.

This Neighbor Month, Nextdoor will be exploring how neighbors around the world have built deeper connections and a sense of belonging with those nearby, and how you can do the same in your neighborhood. Have your own story to tell? Post on Nextdoor with #LoveYourNeighborhood.
