New York Neighbors Become Friends - Nextdoor Neighbor Story
In celebration of Neighbor Month, learn how a simple favor turned these New York neighbors into friends
Nicole B. wanted to visit her father’s gravesite in Staten Island with her 91-year-old mother, Lois. The lengthy trip by public transportation would be too difficult. So, Nicole called on her neighbors for help getting there.
Several offered to drive them to the cemetery at no charge, a response Nicole had not anticipated. “It renewed my faith in a lot of New Yorkers,” she said, and resulted in a “memorable and magical day.”
For Annie, the neighbor who drove the pair, the experience made a lasting impression. “Now I feel like I have two additional family members.”
This Neighbor Month, Nextdoor will be celebrating neighbors around the world. Has a neighbor helped you? Post on Nextdoor with #LoveYourNeighborhood.
