## *This Neighbor Month, find out how a Madison, WI man’s career g**ot a tune-up thanks to community support*

After Ian lost his job as a fitness coach in early 2020, he quickly switched gears, [starting his own curbside bicycle maintenance shop](https://youtu.be/SEULJiuYj1M). He advertised his services on Nextdoor, alerting neighbors of when he’d be on their block for tune-ups and other repairs. With more people working out and staying home, the pop-up concept took off.

By the time his old employer offered him his job back, Ian declined. “When I realized I could fully support myself, that was an awesome moment,” he said. Still going strong more than a year later, Ian has hired another bike mechanic and continues to grow his business in Madison, Wisconsin.
