Find out more about how these neighbors are making a positive local impact this season and beyond:

This small business owner brings joy to the neighborhood with seasonal sweets

Tricia is the local business owner of Tricia’s Sweet Confections, a one-stop-shop in San Francisco for homemade desserts. She shared pictures of her tasty holiday treats on the popular “Any Excuse to Bake” Nextdoor Group encouraging neighbors to shop small and support Black-owned and woman-owned businesses this season.

Transforming recycled Christmas trees into canes for Veterans

In Houston, TX, neighbor Guy posts on Nextdoor during the holidays each year to collect Christmas tree donations so he can craft custom canes for Veterans nationwide at absolutely no cost. As a Veteran himself, he pulls from his own experience and incorporates sentimental elements into each work of art. Thanks to the hundreds of donations by neighbors, Guy currently has enough trees to last him a full year of carving.

A teen’s shattered snow globe collection brings the neighborhood together

15-year-old Janae in Thornton, CO has a rare genetic disorder that causes a host of developmental and physiological challenges. One night, she was devastated to discover her prized snow globe collection had fallen off her shelf and shattered. Her aunt, Stefanny, posted on Nextdoor to see if neighbors could help rebuild Janae’s collection — to date, she has received over 85 snow globe donations from the neighborhood. Her reaction was priceless.

Annual gingerbread house holiday display lights up the neighborhood

Valentino is known for his annual “Gingerbread House” holiday light display in Jonesboro, GA. He invites Nextdoor neighbors to stop by and enjoy the decor, and encourages them to pay it forward by donating to a charity to uplift, inspire, and support others throughout the holiday season and beyond.
