Introducing new Reunions Posts on Nextdoor

Written by Team Nextdoor

On Nextdoor, more than 75% of neighbors are pet owners. So, if a furry member of the family goes missing, it can be a pretty scary ordeal. We see neighbors helping one another out everyday and with the help of those around you, finding lost pets (or even items!) can be much less overwhelming. We’re introducing an all new reunions post feature, which allows you to close the loop and share the good news once you have been reunited with your pet or missing item.

Say, for example, your dog, Spot, has gone missing, so you turn to your neighbors for help. You can easily create a post with a description and photo of Spot in your feed, notifying your neighbors that he’s lost. Your neighbors can then keep an eye out, comment with any leads, or help spread the word. Later, once Spot has been found, you can share an update and create a celebratory post that indicates you’ve been reunited with your pet. The original post will be included in the thread so everyone engaging with the post is updated. Reunion posts are not limited to just pets – neighbors can post about missing items as well! The reunion posts feature is available to Nextdoor neighbors in English-speaking countries.

We know how important our neighbors are. Neighbors around the world turn to Nextdoor daily to:

  • Receive trusted information
  • Give and get help and get things done
  • Build real-world connections with those nearby — neighbors, businesses, and public services

Nextdoor’s purpose is to cultivate a kinder world where everyone has a neighborhood they can rely on. We believe in making product updates that take center stage in helping cultivate kinder, more engaged communities, both online and offline. Features like the reunion posts enable neighbors to connect and share with one another and take part in an active valued community – an engaged community of neighbors, businesses, and public services that you can trust and depend on to exchange valuable information, goods, and services.

Remember Boogie and Woogie? This is just one awesome example of neighbors helping neighbors. Be sure to check out their story!
