From Mask Distribution to Mission-Driven Training: Meet Christine Wamble, NOPS Training Operations Manager
In this Employee Spotlight, we sit down with Christine Wamble, Training Operations Manager on Nextdoor’s NOPS (Nextdoor Operations) team. From creating meaningful training programs to celebrating teammates with personalized music videos, Christine shares how operational excellence and genuine care for community drive everything the NOPS team does.
What initially drew you to join the NOPS team at Nextdoor, and how has your role evolved since you started?
I love training and designing training. I enjoy making processes, policies, and products make sense. I love being creative. So that’s what drew me to the role.
I was excited about our mission at Nextdoor — creating a kinder world. My mom and I used the platform to distribute masks during the pandemic at cost, with her in Missouri and me in Texas. Together, we also donated over 2,000 masks to local emergency responders.
When I started three years ago, I was only focused on product and business support, and creating meaningful training. Now, I support a group of trainers in our business process outsourcing with our vendor, Peak. My role covers all business lines at Nextdoor, including our product, new releases, paid products, business solutions, neighborhood management, and trust and safety agencies. I also serve as a thought partner to all of my colleagues on the NOPS team.
What skills or qualities do you think are essential for someone to thrive on the NOPS team?
The NOPS team thrives on collaboration and attention to detail. I appreciate that we support each other’s strengths with minimal ego. Everyone here is dedicated to what’s best for the company, our community, customers, agents, and one another.
How does the NOPS team balance maintaining platform safety while still encouraging authentic neighborhood connections?
We’re all about keeping our platform safe while helping neighbors connect with each other. We work both proactively and reactively to carefully check for hurtful/harmful content to create a friendly and secure environment for everyone. Since every neighborhood is unique, we work to keep safety standards consistent so that neighbors can engage with each other in a genuine way.
What team traditions or rituals do you value most within the NOPS organization?
Specifically on the Ops Enablement team within NOPS, we love celebrating each other’s milestones, especially birthdays and anniversaries. We’ve created music videos, written songs, held wellness sessions (Severance-style), assisted in interior design, and shared wedding stories when one teammate got engaged! We’ve even used AI to create personalized backgrounds and dreamed big for Corina’s dream life for the next 10 years. Our meetings always include fun icebreakers, like The Sam Jam, Dewey Decimal Trivia, and a Dungeons and Dragons-style game where we decided if we were bears or not bears.
How does your team’s work directly contribute to Nextdoor’s mission of cultivating a kinder world where everyone has a neighborhood they can rely on?
NOPS is central to our mission, particularly in trust and safety and content moderation, ensuring harmful content is kept off the platform. We collaborate closely with our neighborhood moderator volunteers, hosting monthly webinars and keeping them informed. We gather customer feedback through hundreds of thousands of interactions with our community each quarter. We report bugs to our development team and engineers to enhance the neighbor experience. We stay informed on legacy products within Nextdoor to ensure that all neighbors receive accurate information, regardless of their version or test group.
