When it comes to what's happening in your neighborhood—from traffic delays to natural disasters—timely information can make all the difference. That's why we're excited to announce expanded partnerships that bring real-time earthquake alerts from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and traffic data from Waze directly to Nextdoor Alerts.
Since introducing Nextdoor Alerts as part of the New Nextdoor this past July, we've delivered 3.7 million alerts to neighbors nationwide—a 400% increase from launch. Neighbors have embraced Alerts as a way to stay informed about everything from daily weather and traffic to critical moments like power outages, severe storms, and wildfires.
These new integrations address two of the most requested types of information from our community. Traffic data topped the list, with 34% of neighbors identifying it as the alert type they need most. Now, through our partnership with Waze—an industry leader in real-time traffic data—neighbors will receive timely updates on road closures, accidents, and construction that affect their daily commutes.
The USGS integration brings authoritative earthquake data directly to neighborhoods across the country. When seismic activity occurs, affected neighbors will receive alerts in real time, helping them stay informed and prepared.
What makes Nextdoor Alerts unique is the ability for neighbors to discuss alerts together as they happen. When a power outage hits or traffic backs up, neighbors can share real-time local knowledge, check on each other, and offer resources—turning alerts into community action.
We're also introducing the Nextdoor Alerts Map for public agency partners. This new tool allows government entities to monitor real-time alerts in their area, respond to neighbor questions, and distribute critical emergency information through Nextdoor's network of 100 million verified neighbors. It's another step in our commitment to connecting neighbors with the timely, actionable information that impacts their daily lives.
