Nextdoor turned 15 this week. When it opened to the public on Oct. 26, 2011, it had 175 neighborhoods and was founded on the simple belief that neighbors are worth connecting, one neighborhood at a time. Today, Nextdoor (Nasdaq: NXDR), the essential neighborhood network, rang the Nasdaq Closing Bell in New York City to mark that anniversary and its recent move to Nasdaq. The ceremony also falls five years after Nextdoor went public. More than 110 million verified neighbors in 11 countries use the network today - making it the world’s leading network for neighborhoods.
Nextdoor launched in 2011 with a simple idea: neighbors can help each other in countless ways when connecting is easy. That idea matters more now that AI-generated content is everywhere and it is hard to know who is behind a post. Everyone on Nextdoor is a verified neighbor, so the person recommending a plumber or reporting a loose dog lives down the street.
Neighbors use Nextdoor to find a plumber they can trust and to track down a lost pet. When a natural disaster hits, it is where people check on one another. If it is happening in your neighborhood, it is on Nextdoor.
Nextdoor is local by design. Every conversation is tied to a real neighborhood, and the company has built something no one else has: a network of real, verified people and a proprietary Neighborhood Graph that spans 350,000 neighborhoods. The conversations running through it each day are trusted ones, whether they happen between neighbors or between neighbors and the businesses and public agencies that serve them.
“It is an honor to be at Nasdaq today to commemorate our 15-year launch anniversary and celebrate our move to the exchange,” said CEO and Co-Founder Nirav Tolia. “It has been a privilege of a lifetime to build the largest neighborhood network in the world and we are just getting started.”
Nextdoor’s leadership team and board of directors joined employees at the Nasdaq podium for the ceremony. A replay of the Closing Bell is available at https://www.nasdaq.com/videos/nextdoor-rings-nasdaq-stock-market-closing-bell.
