We are working every day to make Nextdoor better for all of our users. Here's a quick look at what's new. See our updates from last quarter →
Neighbors named their local favorites
Between September 4 and September 30, neighbors in the US cast about 5 million votes for about 750,000 local businesses across 20 categories. Winners were announced October 14 and received a celebratory trophy badge on their Nextdoor Business Page, plus higher placement in neighbor search results whether or not they’ve claimed the page. Faves on Nextdoor now number nearly 78 million in the US, helping to build the reputation of local businesses in every neighborhood.
Ask comes to search
Ask, our AI operating system for local answers is now part of search. Neighbors can type a question in plain language and get a response drawn from nearly fifteen years of conversations between verified neighbors.
More local events in your feed
Events now show up in the feeds of neighbors who live nearby, so a street fair or a library talk reaches people who never searched for one. Event items in the feed saw 46% more views after the change. We’re also working on support for recurring events.
Groups reach beyond their members
Group posts can now appear in the feeds of neighbors who haven’t joined the group yet, which helps good local groups find more potential members around them.
A faster feed
The main feed now loads 20% faster on Android and 24% faster on web than it did in January.
Sponsored search opens to more API partners
Starting in January, Nextdoor is expanding sponsored search beyond home services to categories that include health care, pet care, real estate, telecommunications and financial services. When a verified neighbor searches for a plumber, the need is clear and immediate, and they want someone trustworthy nearby. Sponsored results let advertisers and integration partners meet that intent with the weight of real neighbor recommendations behind it. Advertisers and adtech developers can request a Nextdoor Search API integration now.
Targeting down to the neighborhood
In October we introduced Neighborhood Intelligence, a data engine that lets advertisers target and measure at the neighborhood level instead of the ZIP code level. It is built on 350,000+ neighborhoods whose boundaries Nextdoor drew with local communities. In ZIP codes where we have coverage, there are 12 distinct neighborhoods on average. In local market tests between Q2 2025 and Q2 2026, pilot campaigns delivered a 1.28x lift in both brand awareness and brand favorability and a 1.16x lift in ad recall, compared with strategies built on ZIP codes. Capabilities powered by Neighborhood Intelligence are available on request.
