Neighbors Across America Celebrate the Start of Spring with Neighborhood Clean-Ups

Written by Danielle Styskal

This week marks the beginning of spring, which means folks across the country are kicking off the time-honored tradition of spring cleaning.

Neighbors, though, aren’t just cleaning out overcrowded closets and garages – they’re rolling up their sleeves and heading outside to brighten up their communities with neighborhood-wide clean ups.

With forecasts finally predicting warmer temperatures, neighbors are turning to Nextdoor to plan and execute clean-ups that ultimately improve the quality of life in their communities and instill a sense of pride in residents.

Neighbors from Nextdoor Deerwood Reserves in Atlanta, GA gather for their neighborhood clean-up.

Hope, a neighbor from Atlanta, took to Nextdoor to organize a cleanup in her community a few weeks ago. Nearly 20 volunteers came out early on a Saturday morning to pick up trash – Hope provided the garbage bags and together they cleaned well into the afternoon.

Hope during the neighborhood clean-up she organized.

According to Hope, “I originally reached out to Nextdoor in my immediate neighborhood. Then, I extended it to Nextdoor in the surrounding areas. I got such positive feedback from the community.” She continued, “I want to take this opportunity to thank Nextdoor for providing this helpful resource to the community. I don’t think the clean-up would have been as successful had it not been for Nextdoor.”
