Whether it is through feature requests sent to our Support Team or suggestions made in the National Leads Forum, you have been providing feedback on how we can improve Nextdoor. We’re excited to let you know that we have released a few of these requested features.
As you may have noticed, our team has made user experience enhancements on navigation, posting recommendations, notification emails, and managing your inbox on the website. We hope they will make it easier for you to find and share neighborhood information and make your Nextdoor experience even better. Here are the highlights:
Easier recommendation categorization
26% of all Nextdoor posts are neighbors asking or making recommendations about local services like plumbers, landscapers, and babysitters. Not surprisingly, accurate categorization of recommendations allows neighbors to find exactly what they’re searching for in the future. Categorizing is now easier than ever – members can choose from a drop-down list or type to search for a category.
Photo thumbnails in notification emails
Our Nextdoor for iPhone and Nextdoor for Android apps are the best way to get real-time updates on what’s happening in the neighborhood. For those relying on immediate email notifications, we have made several upgrades to the email style and design, including the addition of a thumbnail for posts with photos.
Count indicators on Inboxes, Events, and Groups
There is now a clear badge on the left navigation bar indicating the number of unread private messages waiting in your Inbox. We have also made it easier for members to see the number of upcoming events and discover groups by showing the relevant counts in the navigation bar.
Private message inbox improvements
As a testament to how Nextdoor is building neighbor-to-neighbor connections, neighbors actually send more private messages to one another than neighborhood posts. We’ve added a couple of Inbox management improvements, including the ability to archive messages, and more clearly distinguishing between read and unread messages.
