Welcoming the Bay Area News Group to the Neighborhood Conversation

Written by Jen Burke

Conversations around news topics that matter to local communities happen every day on Nextdoor. It is important that we continue to enhance these conversations by connecting news organizations and neighbors on a neighborhood level. This not only personalizes news, but supports Nextdoor’s mission to build stronger communities.

Today, we’re excited to announce we’re adding the Bay Area News Group as a news partner.

The Bay Area News Group will now be able to share local stories with users on Nextdoor.

As a San Francisco-based company, we are especially proud to welcome the Bay Area News Group’s three regional daily newspapers — The Mercury News, East Bay Times, and Marin Independent Journal — to share news stories that enhance local conversations on Nextdoor. Part of Bay Area News Group’s mission statement is to connect communities by sharing accurate and compelling stories that inform and make an impact. The Bay Area News Group understands the power of knowing one’s neighbors, sharing information, and helping one another out. Partnering with Nextdoor to share news stories on local topics of interest is just one of the ways the Bay Area News Group is fulfilling their commitment to readers.

“With occasional posts, we’ll keep you up-to-date on local news, events, and businesses,” explains Bay Area News Group’s Executive Editor, Neil Chase. “We’ll help you find engaging things to do on the weekends, share urgent information when appropriate, and keep you informed about stores, organizations, and your government.”

Bay Area News Group’s posts will appear in Nextdoor newsfeeds across the Bay Area, as well as members’ Daily Digests. The Mercury News, East Bay Times, and Marin Independent Journal can see and respond to replies to their posts; however, the rest of the neighborhood conversations remain private for the verified members of each community.

We know that the Bay Area News Group values creating lasting relationships with their local readers, and we’re honored to welcome them to the Nextdoor neighborhood!
