Welcome, Italy and Spain

Written by Nirav Tolia

It’s been an exciting week at Nextdoor. Neighbors in both Italy and Spain are now using Nextdoor to connect with the people closest to them, expanding our global presence to include seven countries worldwide. With 600 neighborhoods already in Italy & Spain, we expect quick adoption rates like we’ve seen in the US, Netherlands, UK, Germany, and France in recent years.

Local connections have always been one of the most valued aspects of everyday life in both Italy and Spain. The local pride and sense of community shared by both Italians and Spaniards are perfectly aligned with the practical ways our platform enables richer personal connections in real life.

According to research conducted by Research Now in September 2018, 67 percent of Italians claim to already have a good relationship with their neighbors, while 22 percent claim to have an excellent one.  The majority of Italians – 82 percent – are also interested in deepening their relationships with neighbors. Similarly, 55 percent of Spaniards already have good relationships with their neighbors, while only six percent don’t know the name of any of their neighbors.

Joana Barderi, Head of Community, with Nextdoor Co-Founders Nirav Tolia and Sarah Leary at today’s launch in Madrid, Spain.

Our newest neighbors in Italy and Spain can download the app or visit nextdoor.it and nextdoor.es to enter their address and locate their neighborhood. If a Nextdoor neighborhood has already been started in their area, they can immediately verify and sign up. If a member is registered using a verified address in an area where a neighborhood has not yet been established, they can easily become the Founding Member and bring Nextdoor to their neighborhood.

We’re excited to continue our growth in these vibrant European communities. To our new neighbors — benvenuto & bienvenida!
