Nextdoor Partners with #VoteTogether to Encourage Voter Participation

Written by Nick Brinkerhoff

As a community-centric platform, we believe change starts locally. We also believe that one of the best ways to create change is to get out the vote. That’s why we’re excited to announce a first-of-its-kind pilot partnership with #VoteTogether, an initiative of Civic Nation, aimed at increasing voter participation in Florida and Pennsylvania during the 2018 midterm elections.

The nonpartisan effort aims to inspire Nextdoor members in thousands of neighborhoods across Florida and Pennsylvania to put the celebration into participation by hosting nonpartisan election-themed parties in the lead up to the 2018 midterm elections in November. From backyard BBQs and block parties to picnics and parades, we’re encouraging our members to make voting a time of celebration.

As part of the effort, we are issuing a call-to-action to our members across Florida and Pennsylvania to host election-themed parties or celebrations in the days before or on Election Day (November 2-6, 2018). By registering their voting parties with #VoteTogether, Nextdoor members will have access to an event planning guide and free, downloadable, ready-to-print party decorations, invitations, door hangers, and more. Those who register by October 26th will also be entered to win $1,000 towards their parties, plus Nextdoor’s help in planning and executing the celebration.

Neighbors can join the fun and learn more at votetogetherusa.org/nextdoor. Once registered, encourage others to do the same by spreading the word on social media. Don’t forget to tag @Nextdoor and use the hashtag #VoteTogether.

The future is ours to celebrate – let’s vote together!

We look forward to expanding our partnership to other regions next election cycle.
