Whether neighbors are returning Julia Roberts’ lost dog, Major, helping track down local lost pups, or supporting a local animal shelter, Nextdoor has been a powerful tool to show love for the four-legged furry friends in their communities.

Some of the most popular names from previous years are back again this year. Bella remains in first place as America’s favorite dog name, followed by Lucy, Max, Daisy, and Buddy. This year, Charlie has moved to sixth place, followed by Bailey and Molly in seventh and eighth place. Similar to last year, Sadie and Maggie remain in ninth and tenth place.
As for top names by breed, a handful have remained the same, while others have changed, including the names for mixed breeds, Golden Retrievers, Dachshunds, and Yorkshire Terriers.
This year, we wanted to make it easy for neighbors to find where their dog’s name is most popular – and, which breeds share that name the most. Check out the interactive map below to find where your dog’s name reigns supreme:
We asked Nextdoor members from across the country to share images of their pups in honor of National Dog Day – click through the slideshow below to see if yours is included!
From all of us at Nextdoor: have a happy National Dog Day!
